Author Biographies

Ikponwosa O. Ekunwe

Ikponwosa O. Ekunwe, PhD, is an ex-convict now Academy of Finland Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Management/Politics, University of Tampere, Finland. His current research project “Making It in the Free World: Strategies for Successful Re-entry”, which is being funded by the Academy of Finland, is a study of the reentry experience of ex-convicts in Finland who have made a successful transition into the free world.

Richard S. Jones

Richard S. Jones, PhD, is an ex-convict now Professor of Sociology at Marquette University. He is the author of the books Doing Time: Prison Experience and Identity (with Tom Schmid) and Global Perspectives on Re-entry (with Ikponwosa O. Ekunwe).  He has also published in the areas of prison experience, social identity and the problems of reentry faced by previously incarcerated individuals.
