Author Biographies

Kevin Walby, University of Winnipeg

Kevin Walby is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Director of the Centre for Access to Information and Justice (CAIJ) at the University of Winnipeg. He is co-author of Police Funding, Dark Money, and the Greedy Institution (Routledge, 2022), as well as co-editor of Disarm, Defund, Dismantle: Police Abolition in Canada (BTL Press, 2022) and Changing of the Guards: Private Influences, Privatization, and Criminal Justice in Canada (UBC Press, 2022). He is also co-editor of the
Journal of Prisoners on Prisons.

Justin Piché, University of Ottawa

Justin Piché, PhD is Associate Professor in the Department of Criminology and Director of the Carceral Studies Research Collective at the University of Ottawa. He is also a member of the Criminalization and Punishment Education Project and Co-editor of the Journal of Prisoners on Prisons. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he has been tracking coronavirus infections and measures in Canadian jails, prisons, and penitentiaries as part of the Prison Pandemic Partnership.
