Charles Terry is an ex-convict and former heroin addict who now works as an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at St. Louis University. His research incorporates a critical, ethnographic approach to illustrate issues of social injustice and healing. He pays particular attention to the perspectives of those who get caught up in the criminal justice system: how they make sense of their worlds, and what they do to maintain dignity and self-respect.
