Author Biographies

Shoshana Pollack, Wilfrid Laurier University

Shoshana Pollack, PhD, MSW, is a professor in the Faculty of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has been working alongside incarcerated women for over thirty years. She co-founded Walls to Bridges Canada in 2012 and is currently its co-director. Her research and scholarship focus on women and imprisonment, gender and mental health, and social justice approaches to pedagogy.

Christine Mayor, University of Manitoba

Christine Mayor, PhD, BCT/RDT, RP is an Assistant Professor at the Inner City Social Work Program at the University of Manitoba. She has served as an active member of the Grand Valley Institution for Women’s Walls to Bridges Collective and continues to work in solidarity with individuals who have been incarcerated. Her interdisciplinary work explores the ways in which whiteness and anti-Blackness are embedded the ‘trauma-informed’ movement, educational equity, and the use of the arts in pedagogy and healing.
