Samantha McAleese

Samantha McAleese is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University in Ottawa. Her current research examines the impact of criminal records on access to employment, housing, education, volunteer opportunities, and other social domains and activities. More specifically, her work examines the impact of the elimination of Canada’s pardon program on criminalized individuals and she is involved in various law reform activities in order to push for change in this area of the penal system. Samantha received her MA in Criminology from the University of Ottawa and has worked frontline in education, employment, and community reintegration programs. She volunteers with Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) and is also a member of the Criminalization and Punishment Education Project (CPEP).
