Eugene Dey is a former prisoner, regular JPP contributor and member of the Editorial Board. As a recipient of California’s notorious three strikes and you’re out sentencing law, Eugene spent 15 years in prison advocating through a multitude of litigious and literary endeavours. However, a shift in penal policy caused by landmark litigation in the California criminal justice system led to a multitude of changes, including three strikes being amended by the voters in 2012. As a result, Eugene is among three strikers who have been released from prison and continues his work through his firm Outside Solutions.
