Daniel Ryan Kavish, Southwestern Oklahoma State University

Daniel Ryan Kavish, PhD is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Professor Kavish earned his PhD from the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC). He is one of the co-founders of the American Society of Criminology’s Division of Convict Criminology and serves as co-editor of the division’s offi cial newsletter, Criminology with Conviction. His research interests include criminological theory, deviant subcultures, masculinity, collateral consequences, stigma, desistance, and the scholarly contributions of formerly incarcerated researchers. Professor Kavish’s research and book reviews have been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Crime & Delinquency, Criminal Justice Studies, the Journal of Qualitative Criminal Justice and Criminology, Critical Issues in Justice and Politics, Contemporary Justice Review, and the Canadian Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
