Abstract

The article focuses on several twenty-first-century Argentine narratives that use a variety of discursive queer practices to reappropriate and resignify urban spaces traditionally associated with heteronormative patriarchy. The article’s theoretical arguments are built upon some of Henri Lefebvre’s and Michel Foucault’s concepts related to space – production of space, representational spaces, and heterotopy, among others. These concepts and their consequent reinterpretations are employed to show that the texts of writers such as Gerardo González and Facundo R. Soto create new queer urban paradigms and spaces that threaten, to a certain degree, the traditional notions of patriarchal urban planning.
