Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

    The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, found below.

  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

You must be a graduate student in a Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa or elsewhere, and you must have given a presentation in the year for which yoiu are making a submisssion. Your paper must be on the educational topic presented at the JPDS-SJPD. Please adhere to the following guidelines:

1.      Your paper must be no longer than 3000 words (excluding reference list).

2.      Your paper must contain an abstract of 100 to 150 words.

3.      Your paper must adhere to the 6th Edition of the APA referencing guidelines.

4.      Your paper cannot contain any identifying information that may reveal your identity to the reviewers (name, residence, etc.). If citing yourself, replace your name with “[name withheld for peer review]” in  both the citation and the references list.

5.      Optional: Conduct a self-evaluation of your article using a copy of the review form that peer reviewers will use. If interested, please contact the JPDS editorial team at sjpdjpds@uottawa.ca.
