WHAT KIND OF ARTICLES CAN I SUBMIT TO OSURJ?
OSURJ publishes a wide range of research-related article types, including original research articles, review articles, communications, perspectives, and research proposals. Please see the “Article Types Accepted” section for full details and formatting requirements.
I HAVE SOME ORIGINAL DATA, BUT I’M NOT SURE IF IT IS PUBLISHABLE. WHAT DO I DO?
OSURJ offers a consultation service for students who are unsure whether their work is ready for submission. If you have preliminary data or a developing project, you may contact the Editors-in-Chief at osurj@uottawa.ca with a brief description of your work. The editorial team can provide guidance on whether the project is suitable for submission and what steps may be needed before review.
WHEN IS THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE?
OSURJ accepts rolling submissions throughout the academic year. Articles that successfully pass peer review are published online on a rolling basis. All accepted articles are compiled into the annual OSURJ issue, which is released each April.
HOW DOES THE PUBLICATION RIGHTS AGREEMENT WORK?
The Publication Rights Agreement must be signed by all authors and relevant supervisors at the time of submission. It confirms that all contributors consent to publication and that the work is original.
Authors retain copyright to their research and original data. Publication in OSURJ does not transfer copyright. However, authors should be aware that some external journals may not accept work that has already appeared in an undergraduate journal, and authors are responsible for confirming the policies of any future publisher.
WHEN WILL THE OSURJ 2025-26 ISSUE BE PUBLISHED?
OSURJ publishes one annual volume each April. The 2025–2026 issue will be released in April 2026.
WHAT IS OJS AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
OSURJ uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) for manuscript submission and peer-review tracking. Authors must create an account in OJS to submit a manuscript, upload required files, and monitor the review process.
HOW CAN I JOIN OSURJ?
OSURJ recruits new editorial team members at the beginning of each academic year. Students interested in joining the journal are encouraged to email osurj@uottawa.ca to be added to the mailing list and receive application information when recruitment opens.
