Many studies indicate that podcasts can be an effective pedagogical tool to improve university-level listening skills in a second language (L2). in that context, we developed a series of seven podcasts grounded in metacognitive theory and foreign-language listening presenting L2 listening strategies and note-taking techniques. These podcasts were offered to 161 students registered in 21 classes of the Régime d’immersion en français at the University of Ottawa. We then measured their impact on students’ listening and note-taking strategies. Results indicate a mix of more or less significant impact on a quantitative level and more marked improvements on a qualitative level.
