As social media thrives, technology reigns supreme, and many of the world’s newspapers and booksellers fight to stave off bankruptcy, some people have begun to lament the death of the written word and the narrative arts (Kearney). From this perspective, the rapid rise and growing domination of the Internet, video games, reality television, online communities, and other technological developments have effectively eliminated the art of narration and created a world disinterested in stories.
