Abstract

This policy brief addresses the significant waste generated by the National Football League (NFL) during its championship games and proposes two solutions with implications for international relations. The first solution is to implement team-neutral championship merchandise to reduce waste, and the second is to introduce American football starter packs in developing countries alongside surplus redistribution. These strategies aim to combat waste, promote sustainability, and foster positive international engagement through sports. By adopting these measures, the NFL can lead in sustainable practices and contribute to global community building, aligning with broader goals of environmental responsibility and international cooperation.
