This article reviews three different approaches to globalization theory in an attempt to build a dialectic between them based on Cox's categories of problem-solving theory and critical theory. The different approaches in each of the three works reviewed allow of an assessment of their strengths and weaknesses within the dialectic of these categories and as they work together across their differences. The ways of being, knowing and doing that exist within these different ontological and epistemological approaches, when assessed within this dialectic, allows us to build new approaches to globalization that may lead us toward a pluriversal understanding of the world.
