Abstract

This article is a reflective paper by four researchers on the concept of multiliteracies, drawing on themanifesto of the New London Group (NLG, 1996). We asked four researchers in the field of language and French didactics to read or reread the founding text of the New London Group in order to discuss it around a series of questions, inspired by the issues addressed by the manifesto. This text, which is based on the model of the academic conversation. The conversation synthesizes the reflections of the four participants, which is organized around the following themes: the reception of the manifesto, its contribution, the clarification of the concept of multiliteracies, the prospects for research in teaching language and French teaching, with critical feedback on the text. It concludes with a prospective reflection on the avenues to be explored in the field of multiliteracies.
